What a great museum! The taxidermy displays are gorgeous (really, they're so well done compared to so many other museums) and there is so much to see it's hard to get it all in during one visit. Side note: wear comfy shoes, take breaks when needed, hydrate, and visit the cafe on ground level for their parfait (surprisingly good). It's neat with kids but I happened to be solo and I enjoyed taking a closer look and reading plaques.

An absolutely fantastic experience during my brief visit to Denver! The museum does an excellent job of showcasing the rich natural history of Colorado, including the fascinating discovery of one of the first mammal skulls in the nearby mountains. The dinosaur fossil collections and gemstone exhibits are particularly impressive, offering plenty to explore and enjoy. The museum is highly family-friendly, making it an ideal destination for visitors of all ages. A helpful tip: plan to spend an additional 30–60 minutes after your visit strolling through the adjacent City Park. The scenery, especially in the fall or winter, is truly breathtaking.

So many things to see and do! I recommend reviewing a map ahead of time to prioritize the exhibits. We spent 4 hours here and we could have easily stayed a few more. Our highlights were the dinosaur fossils and poison exhibit. There is a cafe on site and tables inside if you bring lunch. On weekdays, be prepared for many school groups. Pros-- the depth and variety of the exhibits were wonderful. Many exhibits had staff or volunteers with carts with hands on learning. Those folks were so good about answering questions, especially from kids. Parking was abundant and free. Cons-- there were areas that were not handicap friendly, specifically with elevators that were very slow or not working.
