We only stopped for a short time to have a snack, but it was pleasant. I enjoyed watching the many kids play basketball and the people around seemed very kind; yes, many seemed to be experiencing hardship but there was absolutely no reason to leave. The park has a nice playground and basketball court and places to hang out.

A nice little park right next to the library. I sat here while I waited to check into my Air B&B. There are homeless people that camp right outside the library and hang out around the park. I didn’t have any issue while a enjoyed their shade and there wasn’t an egregious amount of trash. This was my first time in Denver and my first real impression of the city.

The playground had a variety of playground equipment. While we were there, there was some construction and large areas of the park were blocked off. Would still recommend if you have kids who need to burn off energy.

This is a great park! The off-leash dog space is nice. Most others I see in municipal parks are so...run down, being mostly hard dirt without grass. But Lawson's dog space is shaded, so I guess it doesn't burn as easily in the summer, and must be able to retain more moisture in the rest of the year (e.g. snow doesn't melt as quickly). Also, unlike other spaces I've seen, the dog space doesn't have a trash problem (in the dog space or the rest of the park). All in all, despite being a one-block park, it's one of the more pleasant parks with dog spaces I've found on this scale. I've also had great interactions with the people that hang out there. They've been friendly in conversation, and help me get my ball back when I throw it out of the dog space. I honestly appreciate how many people gather at Lawson Park, because I feel like if I needed help for any reason, at least people would be around to notice. Don't turn your nose up when you see the crowd!
